Amazing Quilt, Amazing Journey
Three years after a traumatic head injury, and two years after starting a 2015 Row by Row project, Amanda Youngblood has FINALLY completed an amazing Row by Row quilt top!
Amanda’s quilt includes a row from every USA state and a bonus row from Canada. During Amanda’s illness, many people followed Amanda’s journey and were involved in helping her to complete her rows and quilt.
The day before her 32nd Birthday, Amanda gave her completed quilt top to her friend, Stacy Slockbower, owner of Pins and Needles in Chattanooga, TN. Stacy understands what this project meant to everyone involved!
Here is Amanda’s story:
When I began this project, I was recovering from a Traumatic Brain Injury that left me with significant memory and personality loss. During my illness, I worked on this RxR Experience project.
Miraculously, early in 2016 I did recover my memory but realized I did not remember anything that happened while I was sick. I had no idea that I even knew how to sew, yet alone had been working a RxR project.
This quilt top was a major part of my life when I was sick, and seeing it, along with the pictures, and the final results is one of the only ways I can understand what had happened after my Traumatic Brain Injury. I am ecstatic that it’s completed because I understand how much hard work and emotion went into it.
To all my supporters and followers who helped with this project, I am humbled and thankful knowing that many people were inspired by our story. So many people sent kits, assisted in finding other kits, and sent notes and gifts as a token of their inspiration.
